A tremendous amount of time and effort goes into budget preparation, which is one of the primary responsibilities of the BOE. The 2019-2020 budget reflects a 1.62% decrease from last year's budget. This having been my first year on the Board, I feel it's important to communicate that I am looking out for our community and our children. Myself and one other member voted for the least amount of tax increase in the current budget. The consensus of the BOE was to go with the maximum allowable tax levy amount, and the budget was passed with a 3.31% tax increase this past week. I also was the only Board Member to vote against the Free Lunch for All program at the school. I weighed in on all the advantages and disadvantages. After listening to parents, staff and school employees, the consensus was that most were not in favor of Free Lunch for All for a number of legitimate reasons. Of course we all want to help those that need these programs and no one wants to see children go hungry! I truly hope things work out with this program in the coming years. I was delighted to get such a great response to my Zumba class during Success Fest. These kids were great! So much fun and full of energy. Overall, Success Fest was a huge success!
